A night to remember: Burns night at the lochranza inn
There are some evenings that remind us exactly why community spaces matter. Burns Night at Lochranza Country Inn was one of them.
From the moment guests arrived, there was a quiet buzz in the room — the kind that builds when neighbours, friends and familiar faces gather with a shared sense of anticipation. The tables were set, the candles lit, and the programme promised an evening full of tradition, poetry and good company.
And it delivered.
The food was everything a Burns Night supper should be — hearty, generous and beautifully prepared. From the soup course to the haggis and beyond, the kitchen did us proud. Plates returned empty, and more than a few guests were heard saying it was the best they’d tasted.
But what truly made the evening special were the people.
The haggis was piped in with real presence, the sound of the pipes filling the room and setting the tone for the night. It was a moment that gave everyone goosebumps — a reminder of how powerful tradition can feel when experienced together.
The speakers brought the poetry to life with warmth, humour and confidence. The Address to the Haggis was delivered with gusto, Tam o’ Shanter held the room in rapt attention, and the Toast to the Lassies and its reply were both thoughtful and entertaining. There were laughs, applause and more than a few nods of appreciation around the room.
Music carried us through the evening, and by the time Auld Lang Syne was sung — arms linked, voices raised — there was a real sense of togetherness.
Since the event, we’ve seen so many kind and appreciative comments shared on social media. It’s heartening to read how much people enjoyed the night and how valued these gatherings are.
Burns Night wasn’t just a dinner. It was a celebration of culture, community and the simple joy of coming together.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed — from the speakers and musicians to the kitchen team and, of course, everyone who came along and made it such a memorable evening.
Here’s to many more nights like this at Lochranza Country Inn.
